Jenius chooses Wise Platform to transform cross-border payments for millions of digitally-savvy Indonesians
Jakarta, Indonesia, 10 July 2025 – Jenius, SMBC Indonesia’s full-fledged digital bank, has chosen Wise Platform, Wise’s global payment infrastructure for banks and global organisations, to set a new standard for international payments, offering millions of Indonesians a faster, cheaper, and transparent way to send money abroad.
Currently, over 6 million Jenius users can buy and sell foreign currencies directly from the Jenius app at any time. Now, through this collaboration with Wise Platform, Jenius is further empowering users with a seamless process of sending money abroad in multiple currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, AUD, and HKD, directly from the Jenius app to other banks, 24/7. By integrating Wise Platform’s industry-leading infrastructure, Jenius customers will be able to benefit from faster cross-border payments, full price transparency, and real-time transaction tracking, as funds can be sent directly from their Jenius Foreign Currency accounts.
Indonesian consumers have long faced significant barriers when sending money internationally: high costs, lengthy processing times, unclear fee structures, and banks’ limited operating hours for remittances. This partnership directly addresses these pain points while serving diverse use cases, from parents funding overseas education and students studying abroad to workers supporting families and business owners conducting international transactions.
Since launching in Indonesia in 2016, Jenius has been at the forefront of digital banking innovation, constantly introducing programs and innovations that support Indonesians in achieving their financial goals. As of March 2025, Jenius had reached over 6 million registered users, reflecting 13% year-on-year growth. This latest collaboration with Wise Platform accelerates Jenius' mission to promote financial inclusion and expand digital banking access across diverse customer segments.
Febri Rusli, Digital Banking Product & Innovations Head at SMBC Indonesia, said, “Our strategic collaboration with Wise Platform reflects our shared commitment to delivering innovative solutions for Indonesians. By embracing co-creation and the ‘Think Unthinkable’ spirit—constantly challenging conventional boundaries—this collaboration will redefine how digitally-savvy Indonesians send money internationally. Together, we’re setting a new benchmark for digital banking services in the remittance industry, offering faster, cheaper, and more transparent solutions for our customers.”
Erma Epryani, Commercial Lead of Wise Platform Indonesia, said, “Our partnership with Jenius marks a significant milestone as we continue to deepen Wise Platform’s presence in Indonesia and across Asia-Pacific. By collaborating with Jenius, we’re enabling faster, cheaper, and more transparent international payments for millions of Indonesians, meeting the evolving needs of the digital-savvy community, with even more currencies in development. Jenius has always been a life finance solution, and we’re excited to be empowering users to achieve better financial well-being together. ”
