Wise brings innovative debit card for children aged 6-17 to Singapore for a comprehensive travel and financial management solution for families

The debit card for children and teens aged 6 to 17 launches as part of a global rollout across six markets, with Singapore launching alongside Brazil, following successful introductions in the UK, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.
With a recent study finding Singapore youth lacking in digital financial literacy, it becomes more important for parents to start building real-world money skills earlier in childhood. The Wise Young Explorer gives parents control and peace of mind, and a simple and educational tool for children as young as six to learn to manage money wherever they are.
The Wise Young Explorer is now available to Wise personal account holders residing in Singapore, regardless of citizenship. With Wise Young Explorer, kids can spend abroad at the mid-market exchange rate with no foreign transaction fees - the same transparent pricing parents already enjoy with Wise.
Parents can monitor all transactions in real-time, set daily and monthly spending limits (up to S$1,600 per month), and instantly top up their child's balance. For added convenience, parents can add a co-parent or guardian to help manage the card together. Parents can order up to 5 Young Explorer cards for different children. Each card is personalised with the child's name and linked to a dedicated balance within the parent's Wise account.
- For teenagers while travelling: Parents can give teens a set budget to explore independently during family holidays, with real-time oversight and control. Teens aged 13 and above can add their card to Apple Pay or Google Pay on their phones to tap and go on public transport worldwide instead of buying local fare cards.
- For younger children while travelling: Parents can let younger kids experience buying their own snacks, souvenirs, or drinks without needing to fumble for change or worrying about lost cash, all while knowing exactly how they are spending
- For kids on overseas school trips: Parents can easily top up from Singapore while children spend locally at the mid-market exchange rate
- For local allowances and budgeting: Parents can set weekly or monthly allowance, automatically moving money from their main account to their children’s balance, so they can learn to manage their daily spending
Children can access a child-friendly version of the Wise app to check their balance and track spending, developing budgeting skills and currency awareness.
